A Declaration of Chiropractic Independence: This July 4th, Let Us Reclaim the Profession
Why Chiropractic Leaders Who Remain Silent on the Cartel Are Betraying the Spirit of Freedom That Built This Profession
July 4th Is About Liberty—So Why Is Chiropractic Still in Chains?
On this day, as Americans celebrate independence, freedom, and resistance to tyranny, we must ask a hard question:
What happened to the spirit of freedom in chiropractic?
For over a century, chiropractors stood as warriors for health freedom. They were jailed for practicing without a license. They defied medical orthodoxy. They fought to establish their own licensure boards, their own educational institutions, and their own professional identity—free from the grip of medical domination.
They were not afraid to speak truth to power. They didn’t ask for permission.
They lived—and sometimes died—for the right to choose a different path.
And yet today, many of our so-called leaders in chiropractic are afraid to even speak up.
The Modern Cartel: A Stranglehold on Chiropractic Freedom
We are now facing a new form of tyranny—one not from the outside, but from within. A cartel made up of the CCE, NBCE, FCLB and their Patrons has consolidated power over chiropractic education, licensure, and discipline. These organizations operate in lockstep to control what schools can teach, how students must be tested, and what doctors are allowed to say or do.
And the worst part?
Most chiropractic leaders—college presidents, board members, association heads—won’t say a word about it.
This silence is not neutrality.
This silence is submission.
You Can’t Be Pro-America and Pro-Monopoly
Independence Day isn’t just fireworks and parades. It’s about remembering that freedom requires courage—and that tyranny thrives when good people stay quiet.
How can you claim to support freedom while defending a monopoly that crushes competition in education, locks doctors into a single, unjust licensure pathway, and punishes innovation?
If you are a chiropractic leader who refuses to speak out against this cartel, you are not defending chiropractic. You are defending control.
“You don’t get to wave the flag on July 4th if you’re helping to burn the Constitution the rest of the year.”
COVID: The Day the Masks Came Off
Nowhere was the betrayal more obvious than during the COVID era. Chiropractors who stood up for natural immunity and medical freedom were attacked—not by the state, but by their own profession.
Schools censored faculty and students for speaking about the immune system.
Associations aligned with mandates that had no basis in law or science.
Boards targeted practitioners for daring to challenge government narratives.
This was not leadership. It was cowardice.
It was the moment the profession lost its moral compass.
This Profession Was Built by Patriots, Not Politicians
BJ Palmer once said, “We never know how far reaching something we may think, say, or do today will affect the lives of millions tomorrow.” He knew that courage and conviction mattered. He knew that chiropractic was about freedom—not conformity.
If BJ Palmer were alive today, he would be banned from teaching at a CCE-accredited college. He would be prohibited from practicing by a cartel-controlled board.
He would be labeled a “threat” by the very people who now claim to protect the profession he helped create.
This July 4th, Choose Your Side
There is no middle ground anymore.
You are either with freedom—or you are with the cartel.
You either honor chiropractic’s legacy—or you help erase it.
You either lead—or you stay silent and become part of the problem.
“Independence means standing up—especially when it’s unpopular, especially when it’s hard.”
A New Declaration for a New Era
This Independence Day, we declare that:
No private corporation has the right to control who may be a chiropractor.
No accreditor should monopolize our education.
No test should block licensure based on arbitrary, non-transparent standards.
No leader who fails to defend these freedoms deserves to remain in power.
Let this July 4th be the turning point. Not just a celebration of past freedom—but a renewed fight for chiropractic’s future.
The profession doesn’t need more gatekeepers.
It needs patriots.
It needs rebels.
It needs you.
